‘Furiosa’ is pretty good, y’all

Pillow talk.

I arrived late. Didn’t have my phone. The credit card machines were out of order. I stood in line at the concession stand and asked for a ticket to see Furiosa.

“What time?” “The one that just started.” “It started 20 minutes ago.” “I’m sure I’ll figure it out.” “What seat do you want?” Says B10 without knowing where in the theater B10 is located. “Are you sure you want to sit there?” “It’ll be fine.”

If I really was 20 minutes late, then this conversation in front of the popcorn and soda fountain machines was taking place at 9:40 in the morning. When I walked into Theater 11 and saw where B10 was located, I sat a couple rows back. There weren’t very many of us revisiting Fury Road on a Saturday morning in June. That seems to be the case everywhere. But this article at Vulture kind of covers all that so I’m not really here to cover all that.

But I do think this is the Mad Max film I like the best. Better than either with that real mad man. Better than the one with Tina. Better than the one that made enough money that the studios thought another one could really make money. Value is difficult to assess.

Chris Hemsworth deserves a Supporting Actor nomination for his Dementus. If his beer-bellied Thor went one way on a spectrum of grief and violence, Dementus went the other. That’s not a good thing.
